How much does a UK trademark cost?
A UK trademark costs €715 all in for one class, made up of the £205 UKIPO application fee on the schedule in force since 1 April 2026 and our fee for filing and handling it. Each extra class adds €155. Renewal falls due ten years later.

What the UKIPO fee is on its own
£205 for the first class and £60 for each class after it, on the schedule that took effect on 1 April 2026. That is the amount the UK Intellectual Property Office charges to file, and it is the same whether you file yourself or through a representative. It is not refunded if the application fails.
Filing yourself is therefore the cheapest possible route in cash terms, at £205. What you take on is the specification of goods and services, which is the part that decides what the registration is actually worth, and the part that cannot be widened after filing.

How much does it cost to trademark a name and a logo?
Usually two applications, because they are two different marks.
A word mark covers the name in any typeface, colour or styling. A figurative mark covers the logo as drawn. Registering the word is the more valuable of the two for most businesses, because a competitor who copies your name in a different font still infringes it.
If you want both, that is two applications at €715 each in one class, so €1,430. UKIPO does allow a series of closely similar marks in a single application, which can sometimes cover minor variants of one logo, but a word and a distinct logo are rarely close enough to qualify. We tell you which applies before you pay for anything.
Is it cheaper to file in the EU?
Per country, by a wide margin. Per market, only if you sell there.

An EU trademark has not covered the United Kingdom since 1 January 2021, so the two are not alternatives if you trade in both. The EU SME Fund reimburses 75% of official fees on EU and EU national filings and does not cover UK filings.
What a trademark lawyer costs, and when you need one
Our UK filing fee is €455 on top of the office fee, fixed, not hourly. Work outside a straightforward filing is priced separately: an examiner objection on absolute grounds is €750, and contested work is €200 an hour.
The filing itself is not the expensive part of a trademark. The expensive part is discovering an earlier conflicting mark after you have printed packaging. A clearance search at €230 for the UK is what prevents that.
