|---|---|
| 4(a)(i) Identical or confusingly similar | The panel found childrenawaitingparents.org identical to the CHILDREN AWAITING PARENTS trademark, registered in the United States in 1992, after confirming the complainant changed its name on April 1, 2024. |

Why does Children Awaiting Parents matter for a complaint today?
Families Thrive, Inc., formerly Children Awaiting Parents, Inc., is a non-profit in New York that has provided adoption referral and related services since 1975. It registered childrenawaitingparents.org on July 24, 2002. It used the domain name for 22 years and then inadvertently let it expire on July 24, 2024. Loc Thi, V9betmobile, in Viet Nam, registered it on October 9, 2024, and the site showed sports betting, online casino and slot game content. The sole panelist, Andrew Brown K.C., ordered the transfer on September 22, 2025. The panel relied on three facts together: the domain name was identical to the CHILDREN AWAITING PARENTS trademark, it was registered two and a half months after the lapse, and the respondent gave no explanation. Section 3.2.1 of the WIPO Overview 3.1 lists registration following "the complainant's failure to renew its domain name registration" as a factor in assessing bad faith. The first element of the UDRP needs trademark rights, and the non-profit had a United States registration from October 6, 1992. The complaint was filed on July 29, 2025, a year after the domain name expired. Set your domain names to renew automatically.
