UKIPO

What is the UKIPO, and why do EU trademarks not cover the UK?

The UKIPO, the UK Intellectual Property Office, has registered trademarks and designs valid in the United Kingdom only since EU trademarks stopped covering the UK on 1 January 2021. The UKIPO raised its official filing fees on 1 April 2026, and unlike the EUIPO, it searches for earlier conflicting marks and reports them to the applicant.
